Leaving commonplace topics aside, it is a building perfectly integrated in the urban sphere where it lies. A perfect match with an urban quality image that repels any doubt to setup social housing in a reputable residential area.
The building articulates in three bodies that adapt to the rough topography of a site pretty unbalanced on both sides and seeks also the sunshine in every case, giving full ventilation with two-faced façade. Every block has three floors and one of them has a cellar connected to the garage. The setup plays with orientation and unbalance given and obtains lags that provoke a breakup of volumes which avoids uniformity. The different orientations of every block, without lining up, help break visual images between them and regarding the neighbors.

Solar Item was presented at Construmat (Barcelona), one of the most important fairs in the construction business at an international scale. At this fair, Solar Item was selected as an innovation in the sustainable construction sector and introduced in the guide of new events.

Published at local journal Diari de Sant Cugat: “Sant Cugat has participated at the Construmat fair by means of two innovating projects: a prefab building able to reduce up to 60% energy consumption used by conventional houses thanks to a thermal isolating system and a solar collecting cover, Solar Item, which integrates cover and solar collectors in just one building element. Therefore, it eliminates solar cells. Both local assets have adjusted to the rising demand of buildings made under criteria of self-sufficiency and sustainability.”

At that time, Petra Inventum presented Solar Item to the American market at “Gateway to Green Fair”, in Miami. Solar Item had a warm welcome and interested many of the visitors.
